You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.”

This is one of my favourite Mark Twain quotes. It’s easy as photographer to just operate a camera in automatic mode, but photography is also about creating an imagine in one’s imagination.

I suppose choosing to be creative, curious, and full of wonder or being set on automatic is a great metaphor for living life, as well. I have to constantly remind myself to strive not just to document, but to also look for subtleties and interpretation, if not some level of understanding and empathy.

Hence, my pictures need to display a little imagination for them to be successful (whatever that really means).

I live and play in Western Canada. I love the craft of making images, both with digital tools and analogue gear.
